Our skin is composed of two layers: the epidermis (external layer) and the dermis (internal layer). Wrinkles are created on the dermis, which is composed of collagen and other proteins. The collagen is the one in charge of keeping our skin soft and flexible, but unfortunately, with each passing day, our bodies start to produce less and less collagen, creating more and more forehead wrinkles. Many other factors also contribute to this phenomenon, such as sun damage, smoking, dehydration, bad nutrition, facial expression, contamination, toxins, and natural aging.
How to prevent forehead wrinkles
Not smoking is a good place to start preventing these wrinkles, there are many reasons to quit it and a wrinkled skin is definitely one of them.
Keeping yourself hydrated with water, coconut water, and green tea (rich in antioxidants). Hydration will keep everything working properly inside of your body since water releases toxins, helping in a great way in the detoxifying process.
Free radicals (unstable molecules that damage our skin, such as contaminating agents and toxins) must be removed from our bodies and antioxidants do their job pretty well when it comes to avoiding free radicals. Vitamins A, C, E, and beta-carotene are just a few examples of antioxidants that can be easily found in fruits and vegetables.
Coconut oil is an excellent moisturizing product, it is a topical antioxidant that when applied on skin, it can significantly reduce dark spots, wrinkles and cellulitis thanks to its high levels of vitamin E.
Argan Oil – Argan oil is an incredible moisturizing oil, rich in antioxidants and is known to be a natural anti-inflammatory. It is also a great alternative for moisturizing your skin’s face, it’s a little bit drier than the coconut oil, which tends to be excessively oily.
Here are other excellent moisturizing oils: jojoba oil, grape seed oil, and olive oil.
Saturated fats are an essential part of a healthy diet and a healthy skin. Saturated fat makes our skin more elastic and more resistant to the oxidative damage of the sun, the natural butter is an excellent source of saturated fats.
As we stated before, toxins and free radicals are the main cause of forehead wrinkles. Unfortunately, the best-sellers of sunscreens are full of toxins which take us to produce our own homemade masks for protecting against the sun, here is a list of some of the best: Bentonite clay mask, avocado honey mask, kefir mask, peaches and a mask of egg white and gelatin.
The cod-liver oil is also an amazing alternative to prevent and reduce wrinkles, not only it is rich in vitamins and omega 3, it is also one of the best protection methods against the sun.
A burn is caused by skin inflammation over UV rays, this cod-liver oil with its natural anti-inflammatory properties stops the damage before it even gets started.
Please keep in mind that not all cod-liver oils are the same, choose the one that best moisturizes your skin.
